Description
Whitesands Lodge is a place where you can enjoy the good things in life.
At the most westerly tip of Cornwall, on the outskirts of the village of Sennen, surrounded by sea, cliffs, moors, walkways and wildlife, in an area of natural rugged beauty, our converted granite farmhouse offers two types of accommodation; the guesthouse for couples and families, and the dorms for individuals and groups.
We have a large garden, with a yoga studio, secluded tent space, barbecue area and picnic tables, a funky cafe/restaurant and bar, as well as self-catering facilities, and are open all year round. Set deep in Celtic Cornwall, just 1.5 miles from Lands End and a few minutes walk from Sennen Cove's white sandy beach, we provide an excellent base for those interested in outdoor activities - surfing, biking, diving, climbing, bird-watching, horse-riding, and hiking, not to mention sun-bathing or swimming with the dolphins!! We can arrange board and bike hire as well as BSA surf instruction, and pony trekking.
There is plenty to do and see while you're here; hiking out along the beach and cliffs, breathing in the invigorating sea air is everybody's first choice. Then there's the wonderful open air Minack Theatre carved into the rock above Porthcurno beach, the magical St Michael's Mount, the delightful fishing village at Mousehole, and Lands End, Britain's most Westerly point to explore. Cornwall's many tropical gardens, tin mines, numerous art and craft galleries and the world famous Tate gallery at St Ives are all within easy reach.
You can celebrate our summer festivals, enjoy the local legends of Lyonesse, mermaids and King Arthur's Court and take a trip to the Isles of Scilly. The stunning South West coastal footpath runs close by, and ancient paths cross the fields, past standing stones, stone circles, iron age settlements and enchanted sacred wells.
Our reading room is full of books to help you make the most of the area, and inspire you on your journeys.
Off-season at Whitesands
Cornwall's not just a great summer destination. If you're looking to get away from it all - whether it be to relax and replenish, to write a book, or to have some time and space for yourself - the area offers year-round inspiration, and Whitesands provides a warm, friendly, peaceful home-from-home. We also host a variety of weekend workshops and retreats for those that want a more structured break. Springtime is particularly beautiful here, with a spectacular display of wild flowers from March through to June- definitely the time to come if you want to miss the Summer crowds and enjoy nature at its best.
